The Witches of East India

Article

There are some people who have a gullible, naive belief that mankind and society has progressed to a level where certain actions and behavior are impossible to fathom in this day and age. I hear people say all of the time that The Holocaust couldn't happen again, or The Inquisition would never be allowed to happen today. I hear them rationalize this by saying that we as a society have moved into an age of intellectualism which transcends spiritualism and superstition. They say that we live in an age which is ruled by science and its loyal atheist students no longer believe in the existence of a higher power and are no longer held back by the chains of mysticism.

I can only laugh at this. Religion is bigger than ever. The number of people in the World who are religious versus those who aren't is staggering. Sure, the atheists have a large voice in the Media and people like Bill Maher making mainstream movies in their behest, but in a World where practically every major conflict being waged is between two sects, do we really think that anyone cares what Richard Dawkins or Bill Maher have to say?

The World is in dire straits as economies plummet, and as more and more people become unemployed and impoverished, they will turn to their faith more than ever. When faith in their God is the only thing they have left, how well received will the atheists who's agenda is to stamp out religion be? At that point, it's going to be like five-year old poking a 2000lb Kodiak bear, complete with adamantium exoskeleton, with a toothpick.

All hypothesis aside, I direct your attention to the grist of this article. In a village in India called Pattharghatia, five women were victimized in the streets yesterday. They were stripped of their clothing and marched up and down the streets while the local citizenry beat them mercilessly and forced them to eat human feces. Their crime? Well, Witchcraft naturally.
Local police said the victims were Muslim widows who had been labelled as witches by a local cleric.

The incident occurred on Sunday in a remote village in Deoghar district.

Correspondents say the abuse of women who are branded as witches is common, but rare footage of the incident has caused outrage across India.

Police went to Pattharghatia village after being informed about the incident by a group of villagers.

After deciding upon what witches were made of over a couple of bowls of curry, the villagers decided to grab their torches and pitchforks and show society just how "progressed" we really are. It was possibly the most fun they'd had since they were extras on the set of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Don't look now, but I think we just time-traveled to Salem, MA circa 1692.
"On Sunday morning the victims were taken to a playground where hundreds had assembled to watch the ghastly incident," deputy inspector general of police Murari Lal Meena told the BBC.

"No one in the mob came forward to rescue the victims as they were being stripped and beaten up," he said.

The victims are now under police protection.

Police say that people in Pattharghatia believe that certain women in their village are possessed by a "holy spirit" that can identify those who practice witchcraft.

"These women recently identified five women from the same village as being witches who practised witchcraft and brought miseries to the area," a police official said.

Soon, an unruly mob broke into their huts, dragged them out and started beating them up.

Footage of the incident has been aired on television channels in India prompting outrage.

Hundreds of people, mostly women, have been killed in India because their neighbours thought they were witches.

Experts say superstitious beliefs are behind some of these attacks, but there are occasions when people - especially widows - are targeted for their land and property.

India, population 1,198,003,000, Member of the Nuclear Club since 1974...nothing to worry about. After all, we're progressed, right?

El Jesucristo es Mi Copiloto

Article

A Mexican singer and former drug-addict-turned-Protestant-Priest hijacked a plane in Cancun yesterday. Jose Mar Flores Pereira, 44, claimed he was just doing the Lord's work, after he had a revelation. From the pictures, I would think his revelation should be a career change as a Liberace impersonator, but much to the chagrin of the Mexican Authorities, this was not the case.

While Flores Pereira acted alone, Mexican officials said they originally detained five other people because the hijacker had told a flight attendants he was acting with accomplices, referring to himself and "God and the Holy Spirit."

Flores Pereira told authorities he acted to protect the country after having "a revelation that Mexico was facing a great danger, and was threatened by an earthquake," public security official Genaro Garcia Luna told reporters.

The priest, brought out for questioning by the media, told reporters his actions were linked to Wednesday's date -- September 9, 2009 -- because the numbers 9/9/9 were the opposite of 6/6/6 the numbers associated with the AntiChrist.

The movie documenting Flores Pereira's revenge on God and the Holy Spirit for leaving him holding the bag at the heist is due out next Summer. Don't bother trying to see it in the theaters, it's already sold out indefinitely, and I just gave them the idea two minutes ago.

All the passengers -- most of whom had no idea they had been taken hostage -- were safely evacuated as security forces swarmed Mexico's international airport within minutes of the plane landing.

The airline said it was originally alerted to the situation after it "received a bomb threat while in flight," according to a statement.

"It wasn't a bomb," a smiling Flores Pereira told reporters after his arrest. "It was three Jumex (juice) cans that I filled with sand and put some little colored lights on."

Finally, a crime involving juice that OJ Simpson can truly say he's innocent of. For someone who had a revelation from God of impending doom, and was then sent forth on a mission to save all of Mexico, this guy didn't really do a lot of planning. He had time to fill three juice cans up with sand and glue lights to them, but he didn't have time to call in his bomb threat until after he was on the plane? No wonder no one on the plane knew he was hijacking it.

When you absolutely, positively have to hijack that plane...Jumex.

Flores Pereira had demanded to fly over the airport "seven times" and to speak with President Felipe Calderon, Garcia Luna said. Calderon canceled his afternoon meetings to head to the sprawling airport.

The alleged hijacker was also said to be a former prisoner and drug addict from Bolivia, who has lived in Mexico for 17 years.

Sources in La Paz confirmed Flores Pereira was of Bolivian nationality, and recounted that Mexican authorities had said he "apparently suffers some sort of mental disorder."

And that's how you avoid being the laughing stock of the World. I just want everyone to be aware, not only is he insane, he's Bolivian--NOT MEXICAN! Now that we've cleared that up, go get me some Jumex, Pepito. Gracias.

Separation Anxiety

Article

It seems that there are no lengths that King Barack will not go to get his way. In a recent article posted on the Fox News Website:

Thousands of religious leaders got a call from on high Wednesday when Obama reached out to Jewish and Christian clergy, urging them to push health care reform from the pulpit.

Obama spoke to about 140,000 people of faith in a conference call and webcast Wednesday evening. He and a White House official discussed the moral dimension of health care, telling the mostly Christian audience that "this debate over health care goes to the heart of who we are as a people."

But earlier that day, Obama went much further, asking about 1,000 rabbis to preach his political agenda in their sermons on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year -- one of the holiest days of the year.

For the last fifteen plus years, the Left-wing Democrats have been staunch pundits of the Separation of Church and State ideology, using it to take God and Religion out of every aspect of American's lives. Even to a point where they tried to have "In God We Trust" removed from our currency and "...under God." stricken from the Pledge of Allegiance. However, it would appear that the Separation of Church and State only counts until it doesn't benefit them.

The conversation was supposed to be off the record but was captured on the Twitter feeds and blogs of some rabbis who took part in the call, which was organized by the Union of Reform Judaism and included rabbis from other denominations.

This comes as no surprise that this was meant to be kept private. What is surprising, is that someone who holds the highest position in the land could be so monumentally naive as to believe that he could even sneeze without the whole World knowing, much less make an address of this scale and keep it secret. It's downright scary. Here's some words of advice, Barack: When more than one person knows about something, it's no longer a "secret".

"I am going to need your help in accomplishing necessary reform," Obama said, according to Rabbi Jack Moline of Virginia, whose (Twitter) has since been scrubbed of the information.

Obama told the rabbis that "we are God's partners in matters of life and death" and asked them to "tell the stories of health care dilemmas to illustrate what is at stake" in their sermons, Moline wrote.

Critics say Obama's message seemed to "cross a line" and imply a kind of "scriptural or holy support for the program."

Holy health care reform, Batman! Which Commandment was Thou Shalt Have Government-run Health Care? I seem to have overlooked that one. Maybe it was right after Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Before Me, Even If They Are The First Black President of The United States.

Change! Does anyone have some? I've got a Health Care Plan to fund!!!

"I can't imagine why it would be appropriate for a president even to suggest a partnership with God somehow was connected to his ideas for health care," said the Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State.

"Whenever politicians give a message that implies that God is on their side on an issue ... this always troubles me."

I could be mistaken, but isn't this exactly what they criticized George W. Bush for? Yeah, it's all coming back to me... something about not mentioning God while declaring war on the Terrorists because it made us look like we were waging a Holy Crusade. Or mentioning God period, because there's a separation of Church and State, and we don't like it when our Presidents step on that. Oh, but no worries, this is King Barack, he can do anything up to and including walking on water. What was I thinking?

The most interesting part of this article is we have had a steady stream of Atheist propaganda shoved down our throats through Hollywood and the Media. Telling us all about the evils of Religion and how it should be stamped out, yet this article clearly shows that the clergy who were approached by Obama are all staunch supporters of the idea of a separation between Church and State. They all believe that the two have no business co-mingling.

God has no place in Politics, and Politics has no place in the teachings of God. This is what happens when you let a do-nothing, accomplishment-challenged "Community Organizer" into the White House.
